Jenny A. Speaks nee Kabaja, age 82, of Hammond, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2015.

Loving mother of Keith David (Virginia) Speaks and Kevin Duane (Angela Conner) Speaks. Devoted sister of Robert L. Styka. Proud grandmother of David (Amy) Speaks, Kassia (Richard) White, and Ian (Juley) Tillman. Dearest great-grandmother of Adam Mehidi, Julian White, Dominic White, and Charlotte Tillman. Special aunt of Tina Styka Wright, Toby Styka, and Greg Styka, along with many other nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, John Kabaja and Adeline (late Edward) Styka nee Pilchnowa; her husband Keith D. "Charlie the Ice Cream Man" Speaks; and her brothers Adolph (late Vi) Kabaja and Edward (Jean) Kabaja.

Jenny was born in Hegewisch in 1932. She went to Thornton Fractional HS in Calumet City. While at her best friend Marilyn's house, she met her husband Keith who was her friend's older brother. After an 8-month courtship, they eloped on a morning in August of 1951. Jenny was the only Cubs fan in a family of White Sox fans. She was an avid reader of magazines. She would listen to her 45's of Elvis, the Beatles, Engelbert Humperdinck, and her favorite Tom Jones. She was loved by many and will be missed by more.

Friends are invited to meet with the family on Friday, June 26, 2015 from 10 AM until time of Service at 1 PM with Pastor Ed Lapina officiating at LaHAYNE FUNERAL HOME, 6955 Southeastern Ave., Hammond, IN.
