James "Papa Hall" L. Hall, SR, age 77, of Hammond and formerly of Nashville, Detroit, and Chicago, passed away Wednesday, April 06, 2016. Beloved father of Deborah Ann (George) Trennin, James Leonard (Michelle) Hall, JR, Karen Lynn Hall, Stacy Lynn Hall, LeeAnn Lynn Hall, Jason Coleman (Toni) Hall. Cherished brother of Patricia Ann (Marvin) Ebaugh and Kenneth Cecil (Karen) Lyday. Proud grandpa and great-grandpa to many. Fond uncle to numerous nieces and nephews Preceded in death by his son Richard Hall, his parents Hubert Leonard Hall and Gladys Virginia Lyday nee Delk, and his sisters Janice Linda Hall, who was his twin and Beverly Faye Lyday, and his brother Keith Leon Lyday. Jim grew up in Nashville, Tennessee. His window cleaning business brought him to both Detroit and Chicago where he cleaned the window on just about every skyscraper. He even once made the TV news in Detroit talking about cleaning windows, not washing them. While in Detroit he was a member of the Boilermaker / Iron Workers Union. He was a huge Chicago White Sox fan. Jim loved to tell a good story. He was a very generous man and was always looked up to. He was fondly referred to as "Papa Hall". Friends are invited to celebrate Jim's life on Sunday, April 10, 2016 from 12 Noon PM until time of Service at 5 PM with Rev. Steve Kosinski officiating at LaHAYNE FUNERAL HOME , 6955 Southeastern Ave., Hammond, IN. Interment will be private.
