Helen L. Haager nee Wiederman, age 96, of Hammond, Indiana, passed away Monday, August 21, 2017. Loving mother of Nancy (Dennis) Ratliff, Carol Dunn, and Sandra (John) Goebel. Cherished sister of Robert (Lois) Wiederman. Proud grandmother of 15, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother of many, and great-great-great-grandmother of 2. Fond aunt of many nieces and nephews, and mother–in-law of Rhonda Haager. Preceded in death by her beloved husband Clifford F. Haager, her son Ronald Haager, her parents George Wiederman and Jennie Wiederman nee Stump, her siblings Lloyd, Glenn, Charles, Harold, Katherine, and Georgie Pitt. Helen was a Past President of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 168 of Hammond. She loved to draw things that she saw. Helen was an excellent cook, she was known for her pot roast and noodles and fried chicken. Every Wednesday, she would prepare homemade sloppy joes and pies for Bingo at the American Legion. Interment at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville, INndiana. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
