Gerald R. Jones, age 89, US Marine Corps Veteran of WWII, of Hammond, passed away Monday, October 20, 2014. Beloved husband for 61 years to the late Ramona Jones nee DeLore. Loving father of Linda (the late George) Benson, Proud grandpa of Jerrilyn Zoliner, Jodi Franklin, and Gerald Benson. Treasured great-grandpa of 3. Close friend of Jon Carothers. Preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and one sister. Gerald was the recipient of a Million Mile Club for outstanding performance in driving 1,000,000 miles or 25,000 hours without a preventable accident. He was retired from Praxair in Whiting. Gerald and his wife planned a camping trip to Canada every year. He also enjoyed spending weekends in his garden.
