George "Grandpa George" M. Compton, age 92, US Naval Veteran of WWII, of Hammond, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2013. Beloved Husband for 57 years of the late Maxine V. Compton nee Zike. Loving Father of Nancy (late Mike) Lewis and Richard (Dottie) Compton. Proud Grandfather of Uriah Michael Compton, Cindy (Scott) Menard, Susan (Tim) Kelley, Mike Lewis, II, and Tiffany Lewis. Dearest Great-Grandfather of Seth Compton, Kyle Kelley, Kody Kelley, Kory Peterson, Jasmine Lewis, and Autume Lewis. Cherished Brother of Kenneth "Kenny" (Inge) Compton. Preceded in death by his parents Orlan and Edna Compton nee Lawrence and his brothers Lester, Roy, Bob, and Bill, and his sisters Dorothy and Wanda. George was a 57 year member of the American Legion Munster Post 16. George will be loved and missed forever. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 11, 2013 at 10 AM at LaHAYNE FUNERAL HOME, 6955 Southeastern Ave., Hammond with Rev. Alex N. Stone, Pastor, officiating.
