Frederico "Freddy" DeHoyos, age 47, of Whiting, IN passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, surrounded by his family, extended family and friends.

Freddy is survived by his wife of 20 years, Erin DeHoyos; children: Matthew DeHoyos and Adela DeHoyos; granddaughter, "papa's princess" Dalila; sister, Melissa (John Sanchez) Flores; 3 brothers; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was preceded in passing by his parents: Frederick "Freddy" and Adelaide DeHoyos; his grandparents, Antonio and Adela Flores.

A Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 1:00 PM at LaHayne Funeral Home located at 6955 Southeastern Avenue, Hammond with Helen Stewart officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family on Saturday, August 30 from 10:00 AM until time of service at 1:00 PM.  In honor of Freddy, the family requests you wear something that represents him, and do not dress up (he will haunt you).

Frederico was a proud Army Veteran.  He was employed by Allied Universal at Cleveland Cliffs.  Freddy enjoyed music and video games, and he loved fishing and camping. He was happiest spending time with his whole family and being his true self, an all-around "nerd". Freddy will be deeply missed by all who love him.
