Frank J. Drost, age 63 of Bullhead City, AZ, born in East Chicago, passed away Thursday, July 30, 2009. For the past 7 months Frank was undergoing treatment for esophageal cancer at May Clinic in Phoenix, AZ and where on July 10th, he had heart bypass surgery. After 20 days of recuperating, Frank lost his courageous battle for life in the ICU at Western Arizona Rgional Medical Centerin Bullhead City. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Judy: beloved daughter and caregiver Christa (Charles) Samson: beloved granddaughters: Amber and Autumn Drost-Samson, of Bullhead City, AZ. Father Frank A. of Whiting: sister, Marilyn (Frank) Learman of Dyer; brother, Tom Drost and sister Diane Drost of Whiting; many relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his beloved mother, Carol (Wilk) Drost. After E.C. Roosevelt High School Frank enlisted in the Marine Reserves and was stationed at Camp Lejeune, NC during the Viet Nam era. He retired from Inland Steel in 1997 with 32 years of service as a Diesel Mechanic, Plant 1. A member of the USWA Local 1010 and Inland 25 year Club. He also worked as a real estate agent and appraiser. During retirement Frank was employed by the Ramada Hotel Casinoin Laughlin, NV for about 10 years. In March 2007 he became a full-time caregiver to his wife Judy after hip surgery. He was always an avid sports fan, but most of all a dedicated grandfater who loved spending time with his beloved granddaughters, Amber and Autumn. Frank will sorley missed and forever remembered for the love and memories he gave to us. At Frank's request, he was cremated. Agraveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at 1:00 PM Directly at Holy Cross Cemetery in Calumet City, Il. with Rev. Richard Orlindki officiating.
