Frances Hanes, nee Brehmer, age 94, of Hammond, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2022, at home surrounded by family.

Frances is survived by her children: Susan Fusner and Patrick (Pamela) Hanes; grandchildren: Courtney (Kevin) Hanes, Danyelle Hanes, Jeannie (Michael) Kun, Thomas "T.J." (Brittany) Fusner, Jr., Jennifer (Rich) Heuer and Carolyn Fusner; great grandchildren: Chloe, Calley, Brantlee, Madison, Julianna, Summer, Cody, Dale, Tommy, Tyler, Taylor, Sara and Ben; many nieces and nephews; good friend of: Gail, Sherrie, Nellie and Pauline.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth O. Hanes; her son, Thomas Fusner; and her parents: Frank and Anna Brehmer, nee Stocker.

Frances was born in Hammond, IN, on September 12, 1927, to Frank and Anna Brehmer.  She graduated from Hammond High School.  After graduation, Frances worked at the Mercantile Bank in Hammond until she had her last child.  She then went on to work at Carson Pirie Scott in Woodmar, where she retired.  Frances collected dolls.  She adored her cats.  One of her favorite memories was growing up on the family farm where they had to move their home to make way for 80/94 just off of Columbia Avenue. What Frances was most proud of, was her earned title of "Grandma".

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at 12:00 PM at LaHayne Funeral Home located at 6955 Southeastern Avenue Hammond, IN. 46324, with Pastor Esta Rosario officiating.  Burial at Elwood Cemetery, Hammond IN to follow. Friends are invited to visit with the family on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 12:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Treasured Friends or the Humane Society of the Calumet Area.
