Frances Barbara Arens, of 98, of Munster, Indiana and formerly of Hammond, Indiana passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2017. Loving sister of Rosemary (Lester) Meyer. Beloved aunt of Susan (Everett) Meyer Sandefur, Carole (Lonnie) Kent, Karen (Mark) Singleton, Linda (Chuck Pear) Meyer, and Karl (Rose) Meyer. Fond grand-aunt of Sophia Meyer, Victoria Meyer, Alec Meyer, Colin Sandefur, and Troy Kent. Dearest great-grand-aunt of Lucy Sandefur and Elliot Sandefur. Preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Mary Arens. Frances was born in Hammond on May 04, 1919 and was a lifelong resident of the area. She enjoyed her career as head of the Lake County Clerks Criminal Records Division. Frances retired after 31 years in the Clerk's office. She was an avid reader of mystery novels and known for her beautiful crochet pieces. Her family would like to thank the caring and compassionate staff at Hartsfield Village for the care and compassion they bestowed on Frances. Friends are invited to celebrate Frances's life with her family on Friday, December 22, 2017 from 2:00 PM until time of Service at 4:00 PM with Pastor Quincy Worthington officiating at LaHayne Funeral Home , 6955 Southeastern Avenue, Hammond, Indiana. Private interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond, Indiana.
