Ferne E. Smith, age 93, of Lansing, IL passed away Monday, January 25, 2010. She is survived by her son, Keith (Diane) Smith of Lansing, IL; 2 sisters, Loys Turner of Dyer, IN and Bette "Micki" Kokos of Lansing, IL; numerous nieces and nephews; and caregivers, Bea Krstic of Calumet City, IL and Lucy Pervan of Crown Point, IN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace L. Smith, and 2 sisters, Anita Lundstrom and June Brinker. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Thursday, January 28, 2010 from 3-8 PM at LaHayne Funeral Home, 6955 Southeastern Ave., Hammond, IN. Cremation will follow. Ferne was a lifetime resident of this area and worked as a secretary for Ridder Realty in Lansing, IL for many years. She was 76-yr lifetime member of Arcadia Chapter # 967 O. E.
