Evelyn C. Schmidt, age 95, of Burke, VA, formerly of Munster, IN, passed away Friday, May 22, 2009. She is survived by her son, David (Cheryl) Schmidt of Burke, VA.; 2 grandchildren, Eric (fiancé, Olivia Ji) Schmidt of Beijing, China and Leslie A. (Laurant) Trieu of Fairfax, VA; 1 great granddaughter, Haley Ann; 2 sisters-in-law, Dolores Rutz and Mildred Rutz, of Munster, IN; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Schmidt. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at 11 AM from St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 8601 Harrison Ave., Munster, IN with Dr. Eric Stumpf and Pastor Donald Stock officiating. Burial will follow at Concordia Cemetery, Hammond, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Wednesday morning at the church from 9:30 AM until time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church. Evelyn was a lifetime resident of this area and worked as an insurance agent for White Insurance Agency. She was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church of Munster, the Ladies Aid and was past president of St. Paul's Senior Citizens.
