Evelyn L. Morrison nee Purkey, age 91, of Bangor, MI and formerly of Hammond, IN, went to her eternal rest on Sunday, January 29, 2012. She was born on August 27, 1920 in Hammond, IN to Clabe and Lefa Purkey. Beloved wife for 67 years to the late Edward L. Morrison. Loving mother of Mark Morrison and Beth Ann Carter. Cherished sister of Dorothy Girouard, Arlene Nitz, Ronald (Sarah) Purkey, late Clifford Purkey, late Kenneth (Grace) Purkey, and late Shirley Altgilbers. Proud grandmother of Pierce and Kirk Carter. Fond aunt of many nieces and nephews. Dearest friend to her dog, Cari. Evelyn attended Hammond Tech High School and served with the US Army. She was a member for over 60 years of the Indiana Harbor Chapter 373 OES and a member of the Griffith Chapter 583 OES. Evelyn and Edward have resided at Van Auken Lake, Bangor Township, Michigan since 1983. Evelyn was greatly loved and respected by her family and will be missed. Funeral Service will be held Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 11 AM Central Standard Time at LaHAYNE FUNERAL HOME, 6955 Southeastern Ave., Hammond with Rev. C. James Facklem, Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Lane Memorial Park, Crown Point, IN.
