Elsie May Cadwalader, 96, born November 8, 1917 to Edward F. and Flora (Bundy) Spurgeon in Aix, Indiana. She passed on September 16, 2014. Survived by sons Jerry (Faith) Cadwalader, James (Sandra) Cadwalader, grandchildren Michael (Marielle) Cadwalader, Paige (Scott) Ryan, Wende (Enrique) Cadwalader, Cy (Christina) Cadwalader and 9 great grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters Eileen Spurgeon, PHD of West Lafayette and Alta Hall of Lafayette.

Elsie was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Clarence C. Cadwalader, brother Raymond Spurgeon and sisters Annabelle Jackson and Florence Higginbotham.

Elsie resided in Lake County, Indiana for most of her adult life, where she operated an in-home beauty shop for 50 years. Elsie volunteered at St Margaret Hospital in Hammond for over 36 years. She also was a Hospice volunteer and Social Director at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Dyer, Indiana.

She will be remembered for her zest for life, sense of humor, selflessness, love of others and always going above and beyond. Elsie centered her life on others, not only those closest and dearest to her, but also those she happened to meet along the way.
