Eleanore A. Griger, born March 31, 1928, passed away Monday, September 7, 2009 surrounded by family. She was born and raised in Chicago, IL and moved to Munster, IN over 40 years ago. She was a devoted and loving wife to George J. Griger for 56 years and a wonderful mother and grandmother. Eleanore was a dedicated and active supporter of many organizations such as: St. Joseph Soup Kitchen, Woman's Association of NW Indiana Symphony Society, Cub Scout Den Mother, La Rouge Red Hat Society, and a past board member of League of Women Voters and Mayflower Home. She was a long time member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hammond, serving as vice president of the Dorcas Society. Eleanore was preceded in death by her husband, George, parents, George and Susanna Wenzel and brother, Carl Wenzel. She is survived by her son George and wife Amy along with grandchildren, Matthew, Lauryn, Jason and Alexander. Viewing will be held Friday, September 11, 2009 from 5-8PM at LaHayne Funeral Home, 6955 Southeastern Ave., Hammond, IN with the Funeral Service Saturday, September 12, 2009 at 11 AM from Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church 7227 Hohman Ave., Hammond, IN with Pastor Karl Davies officiating.
