Edward A. Wojciehowski, age 87, passed away Monday, May 16, 2011 at the Munster Med-Inn. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 64 years, Elizabeth "Bess" nee Keown, and six children, Dorothy (Steve) Kovacik, Deborah (late William) Crawford, James (Terry) Wojciehowski, Margaret (Michael) Havens, Judith (Michael) Lomax, and Joseph (Kelly) Wojciehowski. Survivors also include his grandchildren Steven (Ronda) Kovacik, Timothy (Margaret) Kovacik, Christopher (Amber) Kovacik, James (Michelle) Coan, Rebecca (Shawn) Taylor, Megan (Stephen) Behm, Jenifer Peltz, Jonathan (Becky) Wojciehowski, Brittany Wojciehowski, Matthew (Michelle) Havens, Mark (Tracy) Havens, Martin (Carolyne) Havens, Joshua Lomax, Shelby Lomax, Kimberly Wojciehowski, and Joseph Wojciehowski and great-grandchildren Ryan, Benjamin, Blake, Madalynn, Zachary, Cassandra, Aleesha, Nathaniel, Marie, Courtney, Maxwell, Samuel, Tobias, Fisher, Julius, Grady, Griffin, Olyve. Ed is also survived by two sisters, Therese (Joseph) Pondusa and Helen (late Paul) Udchitz and sister-in-law, Helen (late Walter) Wojciehowski: also, many nieces, nephews and godchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Lewis and Marie (Mascinski) Wojciehowski, an infant sister Dorothy, brothers Leonard (late Carolyn), Walter and Chester, a daughter, Martha Wojciehowski, great-grandson, Orion Behm and mother-in-law Osie Lloyd. Ed served in the Army during World War II as a Sargent in the Signal Corp in the Solomon/Philippines Pacific Area. He was a retired employee of American Maize with 35 years of service. He and Bess were very active and longtime members of St. John Bosco Church, mowing the lawn and maintaining the flowerbeds. He enjoyed woodworking crafts, gardening and was recycling long before it was the right thing to do. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at 10:30 AM at St. John Bosco Church, 7113 Columbia Ave., Hammond, IN. We would like to thank everyone at MMI for the loving and compassionate care our Dad received while he lived there. Service was entrusted to LaHAYNE FUNERAL HOME 6955 Southeastern Ave., Hammond.
