Obituary

Edward F. Malloy, age 90, of Hammond, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2015 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years Rose "Buttercup" Malloy. He is survived by his 7 beautiful children: Daniese (Jay Villagomez) Malloy, Edward Malloy, Daniel (Linda) Malloy, James (Cheri) Malloy, Debra Malloy, Thomas "Poncho" (Karen) Malloy, and Mary Sue (Kevin) Cieslak. His grandchildren: Ryan Malloy, Edward Malloy, Joseph (Kristen) Malloy, Daniel (Megan) Malloy, Michael (Lindsay) Malloy, Brittany (Shaun) Moran, Erika Malloy, Kaysee Cieslak, Paige Cieslak, Trevor Cieslak, Scott Hayes, Daniel (Cindi) Hayes, and Matthew (Julie) Hayes. His great-grandchildren: Faith Malloy, Gia Malloy, Jacob Malloy, Nathan Malloy, Elliott Malloy, Amelia Malloy, Aislinn Moran, Liadan Moran, John Hayes, Tyler Hayes, and Arianna Hayes. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. Special thanks to his caregivers: Rebecca, Edward, Kristopher Joe, Michael, and Gladys Ed was a WWII Veteran serving in the United States Army in the 82nd airborne where he participated in the Battle of the Bulge. He retired from DuPont Chemical Plant in East Chicago, Indiana. He was also a past president, Man of the Year, and held numerous positions at the Cesare Batisti Lodge No. 27 in East Chicago and Schererville, Indiana. He enjoyed watching sports but his most prized team was the Chicago Cubs. Ed was a dedicated coach and umpire to Woodmar Optimist Little League in Hammond. He was also a long time parishioner at OLPH. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports and spending time with his family. He was loved by many and will be missed by more. Family and friends are invited to meet with the family for a memory and celebration of Ed's life on Thursday, May 21, 2015 from 2 PM until 9 PM at LaHAYNE FUNERAL HOME, 6955 Southeastern Ave., Hammond, IN. Lying in State on Friday, May 22, 2015 at 9:30 AM until time of mass at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 7140 Arizona Ave., Hammond, IN with Rev, Charles Mosley, Pastor officiating. Interment at St. John Cemetery, Hammond, IN where he will be laid to rest next to his beautiful wife. We lost a great father, grandpa, papa, friend, and Cubs fan. May God open up his welcoming arms.
