Edward M. Atzhorn, age 86, US Marine Corps Veteran of the Korean War, of Hammond, passed away suddenly Sunday, April 23, 2017. Loving father of Carol (Garry) Chalmers and Edward (Jan) Atzhorn. Proud grandfather of Alexis Atzhorn. Devoted brother of Ralph (Mary Ann) Atzhorn. Cherished brother-in-law of Rosemary Atzhorn, Olga Atzhorn, Robert (Marijane) Guy, Sharon Guy, and Doug (Kathy) Guy. Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Joan C. Atzhorn nee Guy, his parents Christian Atzhorn and Ruth Atzhorn nee Lanser, his siblings Ray Atzhorn, William Atzhorn, Dorothy (Ben) June, and Ruth Atzhorn. Ed was in the graduating Class of '49 from Lew Wallace High School in Gary. He enjoyed golfing with his family and his annual fishing trips with his son. Ed was loved by many and will be missed by more. Friends are invited to celebrate Ed's life with his family on Thursday, April 27, 2017 from 2:00 PM until 7:00 PM at LaHayne Funeral Home , 6955 Southeastern Avenue, Hammond, Indiana. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 28, 2017 at 11:00 AM with Reverend C. James Facklam, Pastor officiating at LaHayne Funeral Home . Interment Private.
