Don O. Ward, age 76, of Hammond, IN passed away Monday, September 21, 2009. He is survived by his wife of 49 yrs., Vivian M.; 1 son, Don (Sandra) Ward of Hammond, IN; 3 grandchildren, Zachary, Christopher, and Matthew Ward of Hammond, IN; 2 sisters-in-law, Patricia (Enzo) Mion of Chicago, IL and Sandy (Jack) Oakley of Hammond, IN; 1 brother-in-law, Mark (Victoria) Buldak of Elk Grove Village, IL; nieces; and close friend, Gabe Jankey of Lake Village, IN. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 24, 2009 at 11 AM from LaHayne Funeral Home, 6955 Southeastern Ave., Hammond, IN with Pastor Hilton Bryant officiating. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hospice of the Calumet Area, 600 Superior Ave., Munster, IN 46321. Don was a lifetime resident of this area and an Army Veteran, serving from 1953-1955.
