Diane Angela Drost passed away peacefully in her sleep, at the age of 70, on the morning of Thursday, December 12, 2024 at Munster Med-Inn.  She is survived by her twin brother, Thomas of Hammond; sister, Marilyn (Frank) Learman of Dyer; niece, Christa Drost and great niece, Autumn Drost, both of Henderson, NV; great niece, Amber (Devin) Miller of Olathe, KS; great-great niece, Aspyn Miller.  Diane's extended family includes step-niece, Donica Tschopp; step-nephews: Frank Joseph Learman and Matthew (Karla) Learman; step-great nieces: Kacie, Kaylie, Amelia and Evelyn Learman; step-great nephews: Christopher Jones; Jacob, Timothy (Alex) Strong; Elijah and Frank Wyatt Learman. Diane is also survived by numerous beloved cousins.

Diane was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Frank and Caroline (Wilk) Drost; brother, Frank John; sisters-in-law: Ann Marie (Trader) Drost and Judith Carol Drost; grandparents: John and Catherine Drost and Thomas and Josephine Wilk; godfather and uncle, Walter Drozd and Godmother and Aunt Mila Wilk.

Diane was born in East Chicago on June 29. 1954. She attended St. Stanislaus School and Church and East Chicago Roosevelt High School.  In 1971 Diane moved to Whiting with her parents and twin brother, Thomas.  After moving, Diane enjoyed long walks to Whiting's downtown area, and upon return, visiting with her grandmother who relocated to the area from Chicago. However, Diane always made sure she was home to watch her favorite Soap Opera, General Hospital as she continued to do so at Munster Med-Inn.  She also enjoyed spending time with her parents, on occasion visiting festivals or the nearby lake and Whiting Park. Diane's loving, generous heart broke into many pieces the day her beloved mother and care giver passed away in March 2007; and again, when her beloved father passed away in February 2018.  Since November 2, 2017 Diane has been a resident of Munster Med-Inn as she suffered from Parkinson's Disease for a long time.  It is where she met so many loving, caring people who befriended her as they attended to her special health care needs.  Daily, however, she always looked forward to that first cup of morning coffee while being interested in the menu for the day; with a comment on how very delicious the food was as she settled in to watch her favorite TV programs.  On Sunday's, she always made it a practice to view the Mass Celebrated by Cardinal Blase Cupich on TV.  Her concern for family, and her twin brother, Tom was always a topic of discussion during visits with her sister, Marilyn, who then provided her with the latest updates along with sharing family photos too.  She always loved the holidays, especially Christmas.  After Christmas, she would count down the months waiting for her June birthday Celebration.  Diane will always be remembered as a gentle soul who had a loving, generous heart; she never wanted anything for herself.  She was content and very grateful with knowing she was loved and cared for by all the people she knew.  May God grant her eternal rest and peace in His Heavenly Home.

Friends may meet with the family DIRECTLY at St Maria Goretti Church located at 500 Northgate Drive, Dyer, IN on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass at 11:00 AM officiated by Rev. Leonardo Gajardo.  Interment to follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Calumet City, IL.
