Dennis "Denny" M. McFarland, age 64, US Army Veteran of the Vietnam Era, of Hammond, passed away on Tuesday, December 05, 2017. Loving husband for 41 years to Marlene McFarland nee Baker. Cherished brother of Virginia "Jo" (late John) Palinca and Don McFarland. Proud Grandpa of Michael Keilman and step-grandpa of Devine Davis. Fond uncle and great-uncle to many nieces and nephews. Proud father-in-law of Jennifer McFarland. He was preceded in death by his son Curt Patrick and infant son David Michael McFarland, his father Arthur McFarland and his mother Delila Hutton-McFarland nee Norsworthy, his sister Faye Wilson and brother Bill Barron. Dennis was born in Dyersburg, Tennessee and moved to Hammond, Indiana as a child. He graduated from Hammond High in 1972 where he was a football star. Shortly after graduation, he joined the Army. After his honorable discharge, he went to work at Blaw-Knox, then Acme Steel, and retired from ArcelorMittel. Dennis enjoyed his many trips on his Harley with his friend Bob Hernandez. He could always be found puttering around in the garage and was an all-around handyman. Dennis also enjoyed a good game of golf. He will be sadly missed by all his dear friends. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Monday, December 11, 2017 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at LaHayne Funeral Home , 6955 Southeastern Avenue, Hammond, Indiana. Funeral Service Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Donald Stock officiating at LaHAYNE FUNERAL HOME . Interment will be Private.
