Obituary

We are saddened by the passing of a wonderful son, brother, uncle and friend to many. Dave is survived by his sisters, Dawna and Diane, his niece, Nicole and his favorite four-legged buddy Toby Jude. Dave is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Doug and many four-legged family members Duchess, Dobie, Duffy, Dagger, Zakarie, Garfield, Travis, Dakota, Riley and Boston. Dave's wishes were to have a private service. Dave was a resident of Hammond for 65 years. He played baseball for Woodmar Little League and reflected often of playing basketball and football games with neighborhood friends. Dave graduated from Gavit High School in 1975. He then worked at Inland Steel, HK, and he retired (10 years ago)after 18 years of service at Purdue University Northwest (PNW) where he met lifelong friends. Dave loved to travel and visited almost every state within the United States. Two of his favorite trips were with his sister, Diane, to Alaska and with his niece, Nicole, to Colorado. Dave kept up with all sports and enjoyed the Chicago teams. He loved watching Notre Dame football and never passed on the chance to sing the Notre Dame victory march. Dave also had a passion for Indy car racing and was a ticket holder for the Indy 500 race for many years. Music at the house always included the Beatles and he attended many concerts including Paul McCartney, Aerosmith (with his niece), and many others. Dave and his sister Diane never lived apart. Diane was even born on his sixth birthday and was always there for all of life's ups and downs. Dave and his sister Diane raised their niece Nicole from a young age. Nicole was everything to Dave (and still is to Diane). Dave was always proud of her accomplishments. Nicole entered into the medical field when Dave needed her to be there for him and he was forever grateful. Dave had a big heart and loved all animals. Any donations in his name to Calumet Humane Society are appreciated.
