David B. Kitchens "Sam", age 61, of Hammond, passed away peacefully following a brief illness on Monday, February 02, 2015.

He is survived by his wife Carol Lynn Kitchens nee Micona who he married on April 20, 1973; his son John (Tanda), grandson Kyle, adopted son Robert Ritz and his daughters Cheyenne, Brittany, Brianna, and Katelynn; his mother Mabel (J.B.) Redferrin nee Spivey of Cross Plains, TN; sisters Frances Dillihay of Cross Plains, TN, and Wanna (Dale) Boyd of Portland, TN, Pam Kitchens of Hoopeston, IL, Brenda Cannon of Potomac, IL,; brothers Michael Kitchens and Tim Kitchens of Chicago, IL; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great nephews, and a great-great niece and a great-great nephew.

Proceeded in death by his daughter, Jennifer Kitchens; brother Wallace Kitchens, and father Virgil Kitchens: maternal grandparents Arlo and Gladys Spivey of Orlinda, TN and paternal grandparents, Clarence and Ollie Kitchens of Franklin, KY.

Sam worked as a heavy equipment truck driver in the demolition business for almost 45 years in the Chicagoland area. It was a job that he loved and mastered. He was a member of Teamsters Local 731. He was very much loved and will be missed by many.
