Clara L. Kenney (nee Cassady) Schererville/Munster Clara L. Kenney passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2009. She was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Francis D. Kenney; loving mother of Kay (Tom) Rogan of Munster, Mary (Fred) Klepsch of Crown Point, and Mark Kenney of Schererville; adored Grammie to Kellen (Tom) Gallagher, Bob, Mick and Joe Rogan and Kyle( Nikki), Kurt (Taylor), Casey and Katelin Klepsch, and great-grammie of Hudson, Carter, Lily and Evie Klepsch. She was also preceded in death by her parents, J.M. "Mully" and Flora Cassady, sister Evelyn, and brother Dick. Clara was a lifelong resident of the Calumet Region and a graduate of Thornton Fractional High School, Calumet City, IL. She was involved in a number of philanthropic groups, served as an officer of the Gamma Nu chapter of Tri Kappa, the Carmelite Home for Boys, and a board member for St. Margaret Hospital in Hammond and Hartsfield Village in Munster. She was a retired real estate broker; served on various committees and leadership with the Calumet Board of Realtors. She was an avid golfer at Woodmar and Briar Ridge Country Clubs and thoroughly enjoyed playing bridge with her friends. Clara was a faithful member of St. Thomas More and currently of St. Maria Goretti Church. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 7, 2009 at 10:00 am at St. Maria Goretti Church in Dyer with Rev. Charles Niblick officiating. Burial will take place at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville, Indiana. Friends may call on Thursday August 6, 2009 from 4:00 - 8:00 pm at St. Maria Goretti, 500 Northgate Drive, Dyer, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Maria Goretti for a prayer garden in her name would be appreciated. Clara was a classy lady, loyal Purdue fan, loved entertaining and looked forward to family gatherings - especially the holidays.
