Cipriano "Cy" A. Garcia, age 87, US Marine Corp Veteran of WWII's Pacific Theatre and Iwo Jima, of Hammond, passed away comfortably at home Tuesday, April 12, 2011 under the care of Hospice of the Calumet Area, his Caretaker, Granddaughter Jennifer Bishop, Daughter Rose and Son Eddie Additional survivors include Daughter Mary Ann Hamilton of DeMotte, IN 4 Grandchildren, and 5 Great-Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his Wife Pauline and Daughter Eva He was a member of All Saints Church in Hammond, American Legion Post 168, Knights of Columbus Council 726, Past Commandant of the Marine Corps League, Calumet Detachment, and volunteered at St. Joseph Soup Kitchen. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 15, 2011 at 10:30 AM at All Saints Catholic Church, 570 Sibley St. Hammond with Rev. Theodore J. Mens, officiating. Entombment will follow at St. John Cemetery, Hammond. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Thursday from 5 PM until 8 PM at LaHAYNE FUNERAL HOME, 6955 Southeastern Ave. Hammond. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice of the calumet Area or St. Joseph Soup Kitchen.
