Charles Robert "Mark" Byquist, age 75, of Hammond, IN passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2009. He was born in Chicago, IL on May 31, 1934. Mark served in the US Army, Company C, 41st Armored Infantry Battalion overseas from April, 1955 to September, 1955. He was a member of Teamsters Local # 142 since 1962 and was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Hammond, IN. Mark was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene, and parents, Rosalie and Rev. Robert Byquist. He is survived by his son, Mark (Brenda) Byquist; daughter, Kriss Byquist; grandson, Matthew Byquist; granddaughter, Samantha Byquist; and sister-in-law, Maxine Pokorski. During Mark's years of life, he enjoyed playing golf, collecting model trains, watching sports, singing in the Church Choir, and spending time with his 2 grandchildren. He was a loving family man whose opinions and values will be greatly missed. We will ALWAYS remember and love you, Papa. A service of remembrance will be held Friday, October 16, 2009 at 7 PM from Christ Lutheran Church, 7051 Indianapolis Blvd., Hammond, IN with Revd. Roger Storms officiating. Friends are invited to meet with the family to celebrate Mark's life Thursday, October 15, 2009 from 4-7 PM at LaHayne Funeral Home, 6955 Southeastern Ave., Hammond, IN.
