Obituary

Charles "Charlie" A. Harvey, age 66, US Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, of Hammond, passed away suddenly in the comfort of his home on Monday, July 17, 2017. "Charlie", to all who knew him, can only be described by the many titles he earned during his all too short lifetime and the memories he left behind with those whose lives he touched. Charlie was, of course, son, husband, brother, etc., to family. To so many others, however, he was a "mentor", "great friend", "teacher", "good dude", "and favorite ironworker". The stories being related by many speak of a man who worshiped his wife during their time together, cherished his siblings, was absolutely over the moon in love with his step kids and their families, and especially favored little ones. In passing, Charlie left behind the legacy of being an honorable man, one who was known for his honesty and work hard values. Many memories have been related with one reminding us that he was "one of kind" and memories like those he's given us during his lifetime are "priceless". Charlie was the loving father to Paula (Nick) Anderson, Kristie (Bobby) Koartge, Bud (Brenda) Uylaki, Jeff (Sarah Rivera) and Jason (Julie) Uylaki. He was the devoted brother of Mark Harvey and Elizabeth "Betty" (Dave) Riddell, the proud grandfather of 16, and the dearest great-grandfather of 2. Charlie was the fond uncle of many nieces and nephews and the beloved brother-in-law of Diane Harvey, Larry (Gerri) Wiley, Kathryn Wiley, Robert (Carolyn) Wiley and the cherished friend to his dog Trixie. Preceded in death by his wife of 22 years, Susan E. Harvey nee Wiley, his parents, Raymond F. Harvey and Annie C. Harvey nee Graves, his brother William Harvey, his sister, Gail Harvey, and his brother-in-law Ronald Wiley. Friends are invited to meet with the family for a Celebration of Charlie's Life on Saturday, August 05, 2017 from 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM with a Masonic Service conducted by McKinley Lodge No. 712 F & AM at 11 AM at LaHAYNE FUNERAL HOME , 6955 Southeastern Avenue, Hammond, Indiana.
