Betty J. Showalter, age 72, of Hammond, IN passed away Sunday, January 3, 2010. She is survived by 2 children, Michael (Jo Ellen) Dennehe and Brenda (Joseph) Robichaud; 7 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Showalter, grandson, Joshua Villarreal, and sister, Suzanne Overocker. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 7, 2010 at 10 AM from LaHayne Funeral Home, 6955 Southeastern Ave., Hammond, IN with Pastor Ken Puent officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hospice of the Calumet Area, 600 Superior Ave., Munster, IN 46321. Betty was a resident of this area for over 40 years.
