Betty J. Fisher nee Richwine, age 92, of Hammond, passed away Saturday, August 05, 2017. Beloved sister of Mary (late Merle "Tom") Gaynor and Richard (Janice) Richwine. Loving aunt of many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her loving husband of 44 years Karl "Dick" Fisher, her parents Watson Richwine and Muriel Richwine nee Heaston, and her siblings Wallace (late Connie) Richwine, June (late Eugene) Curtis, and James "Ronald" Richwine. While living in Huntington, Indiana, Betty made her own uniform at age 17 while working at the Ice Cream Shop. That was the beginning of her seamstress days. She would continue make her own clothes and hemming outfits and drapes. Betty worked in the offices at Hammond Brass and NIPSCO. She worked alongside Mrs. Smidt's for many years at Phil Smidt's until she married the love of her life "Dick". Betty and "Dick" loved to dance and would always steal the show at weddings and other events with their dancing Prowess. She was also the owner and manager of commercial/retail property on Indianapolis Blvd under the name ALKAR Inc. in Hammond. Betty loved her many shopping excursions to downtown Chicago. She was a great cook and kept all of her recipes in her head. Betty will be dearly missed by family and friends.
