Barbara A. Adams nee Hood, age 88, of Hammond, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2016. Loving mother of Linda (Steve) Batey and Nancy (Les) Arnold. Beloved grandmother of Jorie (Chris Olejnik) Furman, Josh (Victoria) Arnold, Jenna Arnold, Steven "Danny" (Mavis) Batey, and Charles Batey. Proud great-grandmother of Bryce Furman, Hunter Batey, Caiden Batey, and Brody Olejnik. Fond aunt of many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband of 51 years Robert R. Adams, her parents Ernest W. Hood and Florence Hood nee King, and her siblings Ernest (late Valerie) Hood and Rosemary (late James) Wendt. Barbara was a long-time member of the Hyde Park Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading and working in her garden. Barbara's life was devoted to her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. She was loved by many and will be missed by more. Services will be held Thursday, September 1 at 9:30 AM (Central Standard Time) with Pastor Pete Ward officiating at LaHAYNE FUNERAL HOME. A Committal Service and interment will follow at 1 PM (Eastern Standard Time) at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceloa, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
