Augustine "Tino" Puentes age 68 of Hammond, passed away on Monday December 18, 2023. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Patti; daughter, Yolanda Punsky; step daughter, Melanie (Steven) Balay; grandchildren: Haley, Vanessa, Eric, Christopher, Caleb, and Randy; great grandchildren: Zayden, Kairo, and Karson; siblings: his twin brother, Tony (Vicki) Puentes, Becky Leyva, Connie Puentes, Jeanette (late Tim) Blow, Mary (Robert) Alatorre, Joe Tellez, Raymond Tellez, and Richard (Mona) Tellez; brother-in-law, Shawn McCaw; sisters-in-law: Vicki Kloth, Kim McCaw and Kelly McCaw; several nieces and nephews; longtime friends: Linda Ramsey (Miles), Armando Cortez; and by his four-legged companion, Daisy.

Tino was preceded in death by his parents: Pedro and Connie Puentes; mother-in-law, Louise McCaw; brothers: Charlie, Pete, Eugene, Larry, Jimmy, and by his sister, Becky.

Friends may meet with the family on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 from 5-8:00pm at LaHayne Funeral Home located at 6955 Southeastern Ave. Hammond, Indiana 46324.

Tino was retired from the Laborers Union Local 81 and the Ameristar Casino in East Chicago, Indiana. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, and enjoyed listening to music, barbequing, working in his yard, and helping his neighbors.
