Antonio Mendez, Sr., age 83, of Hammond, passed away peacefully Friday, January 9, 2014.

Beloved husband for 60 years of Maria Mendez nee Guerrero. Loving father of Carmen (Michael) Urbanczyk, Antonio (Zarahi) Mendez, Jr., Delfina (Brandon) Bright, and Virginia (Earnest) Fisher. Devoted brother of Benita Mendez, late Isidro Mendez, and late Julio Mendez. Proud grandpa of 14. Dearest great-grandpa of 13. Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Antonio loved music and enjoyed playing the accordion and guitar in a band when he was younger. In his later years, Antonio could be found at the flea market. He was loved by many and will be missed by more.
