Anita A. Beard, age 98, of Hammond, IN, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2024.
Anita is survived by her daughters: Karen (Late Bob) Lawson, Kathy (Dennis) Brucker and Billie Sue (late Greg) Harkenrider; grandchildren: Brian Lawson, Scott (Kristina) Brucker, Kendra (Mickey) Vaja, Robin (Scott) Williams, Melissa Harkenrider; 8 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special friends: Joe, Joann, Karen, Pat, Charlotte, David and David H.; best friend and 4-legged companion, Daisy Mae. She was preceded in passing by her husband, William "Bill" Beard; parents: James and Charlotte Kostopulos; brothers: John Kostopulos and Robert Kostopulos; sisters: Leona Wisniewski and Loretta Lycas.
Anita retired from The Times Newspaper as a bookkeeper. She was a long-time member of First United Evangelical Lutheran Church and was very active in various activities. In her younger years, Anita enjoyed gardening, playing Bunco with the girls and attending the White Oak Association.
